The EuroCOP Committee elects new representatives.

At its Spring Committee in Krakow the EuroCOP Committee elected two new Executive Committee members: Frank Richter, GdP Germany and Mauricio Moya, Fespol, Spain and new chairpersons and members of its subcommittees.

The EuroCOP Health and Safety Subcommittee met on March 22-23 in Luxembourg to discuss its future tasks and meet with Commission Experts on Health issues.

The Health and Safety Subcommittee

The Health and Safety Subcommittee was created in March 2008 to work with specific health and safety related issues concerning the police.

Its tasks

To promote the exchange on health and safety related issues in the police with the goal to identify best practice in this area and to work towards standards for a healthy and safe workplace.
Agenda

The subcommittee follows the Terms of Reference put forward by the EuroCOP Committee which includes:

  • To identify best practice with regards to the implementation of the EU Health and Safety Framework directive in police services in the member states.
  • The Subcommittee shall act as a steering group for the implementation of a co-financed project with the aim of increasing knowledge about the provisions in the EU Health and Safety Framework directive and its implementation into national law among Health and Safety Representatives in the Member Organisations.
  • In case the pending project application is approved the subcommittee’s members shall act as facilitators during the various stages of the project.
  • Circulating questionnaires on Health and Safety
  • To create a network list
Health and Safety Conference October 2009

A Health and Safety Conference took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 20-23 October, 2009. It took place at the same time as the annual PFNI Health and Safety Conference.
Composition

From May 2010 subcommittee is composed of a Chairperson and three further members who are elected by the EuroCOP Committee for a two year period and a representative of the Executive Committee.
The EuroCOP Committee shall aspire to assure a fair regional representation in the composition of the Subcommittee.

Previously the subcommitte consisted of four members and a Chairperson.
