The idea of a European Police Union already over 50 years old

The idea of a European police union such as EuroCOP started already in 1953, when EuroCOP’s predecessor UISP was formed.

Germany, the Nordic countries, Monaco and Luxembourg were some if its first members.

The European Confederation of Police (EuroCOP) in its present form was then formed through the merger between UISP (Union Internationale des Syndicats de Police) and SCOPE (Standing Committee of Police in Europe) at an Extraordinary Congress in Roskilde, Denmark in 2002.
