I. Mission Statement

The EuroCOP Mission Statement describes the organisations general tasks. It was decided by Congress in Lucerne 2003. Those include:

  • Representation of police officers' interests in Europe
  • Political influence in Europe
  • Commitment to Equality
  • Subsidiarity, meaning that matters ought to be handled by the smallest, lowest or least centralized competent authority. For EuroCOP this means:
    • In the matter of an issue dealt with a European counterpart and the action provides added value
    • If the matter is of national interest (such as pay, pension) EuroCOP should only take action if a European institution or European Union constitutional body initiates the matter or if the EuroCOP Committee decides to do so.
  • Transparency meaning that EuroCOP is an open organisation and forum for communication on police related issues, in the public and within politics.
